Small Grants

Small grants ($5-$15,000) have provided funds to allow researchers in Chinese institutions to conduct pilot studies of environment and health problems, mostly at the city, county and village level. The grant program has enabled us to 1) recruit people into our network; 2) understand the way in which EH problems play out and are understood and addressed in different contexts; 3) generate findings that are directly useful to local government and/or communities; and 4) strengthen Chinese researchers capacity to work on these issues collaboratively through hands-on experience. 56 grants were awarded from 2008 to 2013.
